Re: Some questions for composers

Thanks to the people that have replied to this, I've had some really interesting responses which will make for good research etc. I was sad that of the hundred or so people that looked at this, very few chose to reply, but again my sincere thanks to all those who did and a particular thanks to Paul ...

Some questions for composers

Dear Friends, As part of my MMus dissertation I am looking to catholic composers to answer some basic questions about their compositional style and wonder if you would mind spending ten minutes answering the following - your answers will all be anonymous and will be used for data purposes only: 1) H...

Re: Bishop Arthur Roche - Vatican Appointment

The idea has certainly been thrown around a little amongst the Clergy, although at this point there is nothing concrete.

Re: Biographical Details for Geoffrey Boulton Smith

For many years Geoffrey had run liturgy and music courses in the diocese of Portsmouth in collaboration with Dom Romuald Simpson of Douai Abbey and Fr (now Canon) Alan Griffiths. In retirement, Geoffrey became volunteer director of music for the diocese of Portsmouth. When the diocese set up a new ...

Re: LOCATION OF DOCUMENT

Their magazine, Church Music, certainly includes reviews of new settings at this time. However, in the back of Sing Up by Bill Tamblyn (Bill was then editing Church Music ) there is a list of Masses for Congregational Use. Might this be of use? Nick, if you'd be willing to send me a scan or a photo...

Re: LOCATION OF DOCUMENT

I possess a few CMA magazines. I'll have a look later this week to see what is mentioned in the planners. (Lots of motets in those days!) One document you should try to borrow, I suggest, is Geoffrey Boulton Smith's M Phil thesis. Fr Peter, Don't suppose you'd have contact details for the above, be...

Re: Comparing the meerkat - the digital experience!

I had to chip in on this one: Phoenix organs are very very good and not overly expensive and will build you exactly what you want! I installed one in St. Josephs RC in Sheffield and was also on the staff at Sheffield (Anglican) Cathedral just after it's installation, and I cannot fault them. Allen a...

Location of document

Dear Friends, I'm just finishing up my MMus on 20th Century Catholic Church Music and I need help locating a copy of a document: The 1969 CTS Music in the Mass pamphlet refers in paragraph 6 to a up-to-date list of and recommendation for english settings that can be obtained from the CMA? Does anyon...
