Re: Second Sunday of Advent

Yesterday

My favourite Beatles song! But I fail to see the liturgical relevance. :D

Re: Worldwide Eucharistic Adoration ???

We too had a 'Holy Hour' which followed the service sheet sent out. Several members of our choir were present and led us in some chants and hymns. Our deacon assisted and did much of the 'hard' work as it was FHC this morning and our PP, who is over 80, must have been exhausted. There were 35 to 40 ...

Gosh!

And, as a fellow parishioner, I'd volunteer to be your campaign manager!

Re: Bloopers and Typos

As the one 'blessed' with doing the weekly bulletin in my parish for the last nine years, I'm just waiting for/dreading the day when I accidentally RIP someone who is not yet RIPed in the Mass intentions. This happened to my predecessor but fortunately the RIPee saw the funny side of it and was able...

Re: Reverence

So too, he seems to be encouraging greater reverence for our Lord and his real presence through kneeling at communion and reception on the tongue If we knelt to receive communion in our church, our priest would have to bend double to reach the tongues of any parishioner under about eight feet tall ...

Don't know about the Sanctus but I once heard the Gloria set to Eastenders on Songs of Praise. I've heard worse - but not very often!

If not 'there', where?

I too think the sign of peace has got a 'bit out of hand' - there are times when it seems to be more like 'liturgical gymnastics'. For me, where it is now and the form it quite often takes in my church, it disrupts what should be a quiet and spiritual time in the Mass. Would not a better place be at...

Re: Remembrance Sunday

Tomorrow's 10.30 a.m. Mass is "For the people of the parish". Why not as it always used to be for those who have died in war???? Our main Mass tomorrow (Sunday) is a Requiem Mass for 'The Fallen in the Wars'. In years gone by, that Mass has always started with a procession of parishioners...

Re: Peace

But the real reason for this gripe is the Peace. At this point like his predecessor the priest leaves the altar and goes the length of the church greeting those nearest to the centre aisle.............. The logical response to this behaviour would be for everyone to walk around the church but of co...

Hands up anyone who will be using that next Sunday By which, of course, you mean Faith of Our Fathers, Holy Faith, We will be true to thee 'til death. (Sorry, haven't worked out how to 'double quote!) I'd LOVE to hear this (FooF) sung in MY Church this weekend! Oh, favoured choir leader, please tak...

Re: Cross vs Crucifix

St Peter's Leamington (in my youth) celebrated the Triduum splendidly. .................. At the Gloria in the Easter Vigil - bells, organ fanfares, lights everywhere coming on - and "wooooomph" - all the purple dropped to the ground - very dramatic. Why shouldn't liturgy be "good th...

Communion at the rail again gave me a chance to think about what I was actually doing. I can see why it would be a good idea to reintroduce it. . Hmmm! Although I am most definitely NOT in favour of a return of the 'old' Latin Mass (much as I genuinely love Latin and I do still read my old Latin Su...
