Re: St Anne's Leeds Midnight Mass
The setting of the responsorial psalm was by Philip Duffy, Master of the Music at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral from 1966-1996. As it was being sung on BBC 1 TV from Leeds, the same psalm setting was also being sung on BBC Radio 4 in the Midnight Mass broadcast from Liverpool!

Re: Gregorian Chant - Conciliar/Post-conciliar Documents

Re: School Masses
The Diocese of Leeds put a helpful document together a few years ago which whilst more generally about school liturgies, does refer to music on several occasions.

Re: Pastoral liturgy and pastoral music
I'm not about to disagree with Chris, but it seems to me that equal consideration must be given to the musical talents available, the resources in terms of the equipment and spaces available, and the profile of that given congregation or event. Badly done or inappropriate music can be deeply unedif...

Re: Pastoral liturgy and pastoral music
As an academic, I see ‘pastoral’ liturgical studies sitting alongside historical and theological enquiry. Historical liturgical studies - why do we do things this way, how did we used to do it, what were the reasons for doing something? Theological theological studies - what does this act mean, what...

Re: Episcopal ordination
Good to see. But can anyone explain the choice of O purest of creatures at the offertory? Look in the Ordo - Our Lady of Walsingham - today's feast. No, still don't quite understand. We offer gifts to the Lord while singing to (rather than about) someone else? Often the GR has the text 'Ave Maria' ...

Episcopal ordination
Wonderful to see a Bishop talking in his ordination booklet about the music he chose for his ordination (see page 6.) http://www.portsmouthdiocese.org.uk/docs/Philip-Egan-episcopal-ordination-order-of-service-final.pdf Quite a varied selection of music - with the added bonus that it appears that you...
