Re: New Pope

We missed out completed this year, as no feet were washed at all. The excuse given was that not enough people had volunteered - "so we will not be having the optional washing of the feet this year". I'm not convinced by the lack of volunteers excuse though. I know that many felt very cheat...

Re: Boosey and Hawkes

I ordered 35 copies of the vocal score a couple of weeks ago, and they arrived within days. It's not easy to find the '2011 edition' on the B&H website though, as initial searches bring up the old version, which is still for sale. Could that be what's causing the confusion???

I believe the collection is called 'Turn your heart to me'.

Re: MASS FROM LEEDS.

I thought it was odd when they said "as the bread and wine are brought to the altar, the choir sings ‘Lord of all hopefulness’". Why only the choir? Or perhaps there wasn't a congregation?

Re: Psallite online

On the Spotify website it says: "All the music on Spotify has been licensed from and delivered by labels or other rightsholders. Usually when an artist asks us how their music ended up on Spotify, it turns out that the artist’s music has been licensed and delivered by a label or aggregator with...

Re: Papal Visit

It was wonderful to be a part of such a special occasion. Many thanks to all involved in the planning and organisation, especially Fr Peter. I’m thrilled to bit to have been involved.

If anyone would like to see some photos of the occasion, you’re most welcome to take a look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jagylys/

Re: Papal Visit

I saw this in the newspaper yesterday, and I have to admit it definitely made me smile. Yes, it's completely over the top. Intended, it seems, to explain what we do to the "Government, police and technical people involved in the events". More then anything, though, I can't help thinking th...

Re: Contacting OCP

Hi Mithras You've just taken me on a wonderful trip down memory lane! I've not listened to my copy of Wake Your Power CD for ages. The dust had gathered on it. And listening reminds me why the Dutch music has to be top of my list as my Desert Island choice. The OCP recordings are a little bit too 'p...

Re: Vigil Mass at Christmas

If Pope Benedict is planning celebrate Midnight Mass at 10pm this year, is that going to encourage parishes to follow his example?

Re: Choir guidelines

I do hear what you are saying, but does that mean that anything should be tolerated, no matter how distracting? If it's a non-audition choir, I think it probably does. By the very nature of things, it seems that those whose singing voices are perhaps a little past their best have often also reached...

Re: Haugen on tour

For anyone interested, I believe these are the dates and venues: 10 October: Exeter Cathedral. Make a Joyful Noise, A music day for all with many workshop leaders. 11 Sunday Our Lady of the Assumption, Abbey Road, Torquay. Music for the Soul. 12 Monday: An Evening with Marty Haugen, St Mary, 39 Ewen...

Re: Jesus wants me for a sunbeam

Actually I was thinking of some of the examples here: http://www.catholicshopper.com/products/inspirational_sport_statues.html The Safeguarding people would have a field day with these - baseball, football and golf, to name but three. If you haven't followed this link, it's worth a look. Scary. Def...

Re: Take our bread, we ask you. Laudate 610

I've used the Laudate version and HON - but never has a rest been heard in either. I'm sure you'll be fine if you just keep going. I doubt the congregation will obseve the rests, if they're singing!

Not many in our parish would be familiar with the Pergolesi or Faure, so I doubt they would feature of many funeral arrangement lists here.
