I will never forget the youngster who proclaimed: "A reading from the Duke of Booterononomy".
Not the vigil. I'll get me coat!

Re: New facebook Group
One person joined SSG as a result of the Facebook group. Maybe SSG needs a larger :D Facebook presence? Facebook groups are only visible to those registered with Facebook. Any organisation seeking to be better known needs to have more than one online presence. So, as well as boards like this, Faceb...

Re: New Translation of the Lectionary incoming
All a long way from initial hopes that it would be available in 2022.
Being an old git, I pray it's further delayed: I already struggle with language of the 2010 translation of the Missal. And the Abbey Psalms are excruciating in places.

Re: New Translation of the Lectionary incoming
I note that, on the Lectionary Timetable from April 2023, the composers guide was to be available from May 2023, with the psalm texts available for composers from next month. Has anyone seen the composers guide, or knows where it can be found? That was probably when the planned date for the new Lec...

Summer School 2023
We're now heading towards the end of Summer School – my first since 2005. Great success, despite two days of rain which made travelling around the campus a tad soggy.
There are photos and or or two video clips on the SSG's Facebook Page and on Musicky Liturgy Things – also on Facebook.

And to you, SC.

Re: Recorded music in church, etc
Agree with all SC says above. Should have stressed, I only used midi for accompanying Psalms and Communion Songs. Hymns and songs were played live.

Re: Recorded music in church, etc
I've used midi for years. Not sure anyone knew. Is it OK if nobody spots it?

Re: Communion Songs
Back in the 60s, my tenor grandfather would attend 8am Mass to receive Communion and then return to sing at 11.15am. He would have breakfast in the gap – I can still picture him eating behind the (then broadsheet) Catholic Herald!

Re: Communion Songs
Excellent and thorough reply from SC, as usual. One logistical problem, already referred to above, is what happens if there is no cantor or choir to keep the song going during the time of distribution? With the exception of the Cantor, our musicians receive with everyone else and, therefore, help to...
